5 things I learned from Quinta’s interview in Oprah’s Garden

What’s What

I saw Quinta on TV before she was “Quinta” and no not on her viral IG series “The Girl Who’s Never Been On a Nice Date” but from when she popped up on an episode (the philly cheesesteak one!) of BuzzFeed’s “Worth It”. However, I mainly learned about Quinta via her now viral TV show Abbott Elementary. I instantly related to her character: wholesome, quirky, awkward yet hilarious. I then found a picture of her lighting up and fell even more in love with her. So when her interview in Oprah’s own garden debuted on HBO Max, I made time to watch it right away; then I made time to watch it again to take notes! There was a lot that Quinta said that I resonated with. Here are the 5 things I learned from Quinta’s Oprah interview:

  1. It’s all in the details

    a. “I think the little details make something unique and special.”
    b. “the smallest, the tiniest details are what make people attach to…” what you’re doing

I’m a look closely at the details kind of person and it made sense that Quinta is too with the attention to detail she pays to every aspect of Abbott!
  2. Quinta doesn’t believe in failing; it’s either a lesson or different direction and I love that.

I wholeheartedly agree that this is the best way to look at and/or accept defeat or failure. The road to success is full of highs and lows and it’s better for our mental to take everything in stride.
  3. There’s an art to caring about people but not what they think (of you)

    a. I love this and it will become a mantra because it means you’re striking a balance between the above and staying true to your own beliefs & intentions. Plus, it removes the pressure of feeling like you’re representing for everyone, which is a weight Quinta (and myself) gladly removed.
  4. Sometimes it is not always clear but whatever you’re doing now is preparing you for whatever’s going to come; nothing is wasted if you’re paying attention!
  5. She loves being the underdog (and so does Oprah!)

    a. Being underestimated builds character and creativity

The last 2 resonate because, especially when you’re starting something new, sometimes you may doubt yourself and what you’re attempting to do but if you remember your why and how far you’ve come already, the character, creativity and courage is building. All that says to me is to keep going!

What’s Luxe

I love a good sit down interview! A great interviewer with interesting questions and an interviewee who is open and charismatic is chef’s kiss!
